Innovations in the Notation of Standard Z
نویسنده
چکیده
The second Committee Draft of the ISO standard \Z Nota-tion" is expected to be published soon after the ZUM'98 proceedings. This paper provides an overview of Standard Z from the perspective of the diierences between its notation and that of Spivey's de facto standard \The Z Notation: A Reference Manual". Its aim is to make the diierences be more widely known and hence enable wider exploitation of the improvements, by both speciiers and tool builders. The diierences reported are those for which the author perceives there to be consensus within the Z panel. As the second Committee Draft is not yet nished, beware that this consensus could yet change.

متن کاملOn Mutually Recursive Free Types in Z
Mutually recursive free types are one of the innovations in the forthcoming ISO Standard for the Z notation. Their semantics has been specified by extending a formalization of the semantics of traditional Z free types to permit mutual recursion. That development is reflected in the structure of this paper. An explanation of traditional Z free types is given, along with some examples, and their ...

Introduction: MICAP is a new notation in which the teeth areindicated by letters (I-incisor, C-canine, P-premolar, M-molar)and numbers [1,2,3] which are written superscript and subscripton the relevant letters. FDI tooth notation is a two digit systemwhere one digit shows quadrant and the second one shows thetooth of the quadrant. This study aimed to compare the short termretention of knowledge...
متن کاملA Calculus for Schemas in Z
The Z notation (Spivey, 1992b) has become a popular tool, both in teaching software specification and in industrial practice. Testimony to this may be seen in the regular Z User Meetings (Bowen et al., 1997), and numerous tools and textbooks. Examples of the latter include those of Woodcock and Davies (1996) and Wordsworth (1993); there are at least 35 in total. Tools and publications are liste...
متن کاملTemporal Logic and Z Speci cationsRoger Duke
The Z speciication language can be used to capture liveness properties of state transition systems such as those used to specify communications protocols. The speciication of such systems involve temporal concepts such as \eventually" and \always". In this paper we extend standard Z to include the temporal logic operators so as to provide a powerful notation for discussing the liveness of state...
